It didn’t take much convincing for long-time Prince George resident Fred Schlitt to see the value in choosing his new home at RiverBend Seniors Community.
“This is just the cat’s meow,” said the 86-year-old, who has been living with his daughter and son-in-law since his wife passed away six years ago.
When his daughter heard about the new RiverBend, she and Fred visited Sales Manager Judy Kehler at the Seniors Community Information Kiosk in Pine Centre Mall to learn more. That initial talk led to further investigation and conversations, and Fred is now the proud owner of a new, two-bedroom suite on the fourth floor.
He says he is looking forward to many things about living at RiverBend, but some of the most anticipated are the social options that will be planned for the community on a monthly basis. In addition to activities and amenities within RiverBend, such as a woodworking shop, community craft and games room, and a media room, proximity to other important locations in the City is quick and easy.
“I live a little ways out of town right now and it’s a bit of a hassle to get places. RiverBend is close to the Hudson Bay, the shopping centre. My dentist is really close, too. The location couldn’t be better.”
Fred also likes the idea of having his own full kitchen in his two-bedroom suite to make meals if he chooses, or to have options for meals in the RiverBend Dining Room. The seniors community offers flexible meal planning that can be arranged by the day, the week or the month – as often or as little as residents need.
“I don’t mind cooking, but if I don’t feel like it, I don’t have too.”

“What really got me was the fact that you could cook your own meals or choose to go to the dining room.”
